Culture Change for Organisations

The Thinking Environment is a powerful lever for transformational systems and culture change. Drawing upon a deep working knowledge of how organisations operate, sharp emotional intelligence and a radically candid approach, we will co-create a programme which works for you.

We’ll start with where you’re at, but you can expect to follow this evidence-based process:

  • Getting Unstuck
The development of possibility questions, to focus our work together.

  • Releasing Potentia
Identification of changemakers, allies who have the appetite for change.

  • Gaining Clarity
Using Thinking Environments to energise and measure culture change.

  • Co-Creating Unimagined Futures
Taking good ideas and building momentum for long-term sustainable change.

What will you get out of the culture change programme?

At the heart of the programme we’ll co-create with you is coherence; a strategic coherence which brings together policy and action, to establish effective workflows fuelled by responsive data and excellent communication.

Every organisation is different, but we usually encounter problems around meetings, bureaucracy, communication, relationships, lack of momentum, equality and (a lack of) difference.

The great joy of the Thinking Environment is that you will be working on the challenges that matter to you, whilst at the same time learning how to think and communicate with more equality and independence. Our work together will be sustainable; it won’t peter out once we have gone.

Depending on the depth of the programme, you’ll be left with new ways of working and communicating and a refreshed meetings culture led by colleagues who are trained in Thinking Environment practices and who have access to Thinking Environment communities where they can deepen their craft.

What will the sessions be like?

We are not presenting any sort of magic bullet here, so you can guarantee that the work we do together is meaningful, ethical and has depth and purpose. All the training will take place in a Thinking Environment, so you are learning techniques for equitable independent thinking, even as you are identifying the challenges you face and generating possibility questions around them.

Decision-making is democratic, using the Sociocratic principle of “Good enough for now, safe enough to try,” to avoid stalemate. The Thinking Environment ensures that every voice is heard. You will find that, as we progress the work together, the trust between participants palpably improves; after all, as Christina Donovan’s work has taught us, trust can only flourish or reflourish when we try something new.

You will feel the culture change, but that’s not enough. To move from good intentions to sustainable action, we’ll work with you to also identify systems change, otherwise you’ll just get pulled back into the status quo. This work is coherent, consistent, persistent and sometimes actions will feel quite small. But it will get you further than any quick fix, and keep you there.
